Things to remember
The simple past tense of some verbs does not follow any rules.For example.

The simple past tense
We use the simple past tense to talk about things that happened or did not happen in the past.
一般过去时的用法：
1.表示过去时间发生的动作或存在的状态。
I got up at six this morning.
We visited a farm last Sunday.
2.表示过去的习惯或经常发生的动作。
When I was young,I often swam in the river.
