1）command(commanded;commanded)
v.命令,指挥
n.命令,指令；掌握
（1）give commands 发出指令
have a good command of 精通
She has a good command of French language.
（2）command sb to do sth 命令某人做某事
The policeman commanded him to stop.
（3）command that…+…(should)+do
He commanded that we(should) keep silent.
2）request v./n.请求；要求
request sb for sth(request sth from sb)
向某人要求某物
She requested me for some water.
request sb to do sth 要求某人做某事
Gentlemen are requested not to smoke.
归纳:下列动词所在的名词从句和宾语从句用
should+do,should可以省略
一坚持 （insist）
二命令 （command,order）
三建议 （suggest,advise,propose）
五要求 （ask,require,request,desire,demand）
The teacher advised us that we(should) learn the text by heart.
It is suggested that you(should)not often stay up.
注意:
1.当suggest表示“暗示,表明”,不用虚拟语气,应该用陈述语气。
The smile on her face suggested that she was satisfied with our work.
What he said suggested he didn't like me.
2.当insist表示“坚持说”“坚持认为”时,应用陈述语气。
She insisted that she was right and that I should apologize for her.
Using Language
1.Believe it or not,there is no such thing as standard English.
信不信由你,（世界上）没有什么标准英语。
1）Believe it or not,there will be a heavy rain tomorrow evening.
Believe it or not,the exam is put off.
2）such的用法:
若such前的定语是no,one,all,most,some,any,another,many,much,a few,few,a little,little,several等,such应位于这些词之后,若为其他形容词,such则置于这些词之前。
There are many such books on sale in the bookstore.
There is no such person in our class.
There are such good books that I want to buy some.
2.This is because in the early days of radio,……
This/That is because……这是/那是因为……。
because在此句中引导表语从句。
He was late,and that's because he was held up in the traffic rush.
He wouldn't like to go out today;this is because he didn't feel well.
*若reason作主语,后面的表语从句要用that引导。
The reason why I didn't call you back is that I was busy yesterday.
The reason why he was late is that he had taken a wrong bus.
3.However,on TV and the radio you will hear differences in the way people speak.
然而,在电视上或收音机里,人们讲的英语也有所不同。
若way作“方式；方法”讲,后跟定语从句且在句中作状语,则定语从句中的关系代词可以是that,in which或省略。
I don't like the way(in which)you treat him.
He hated the way(that)he was treated.
He is very rude.Don't speak the way he did.
注意关系词的选择:
This is the way in which,that,/I did it.
The way which,that leads to my house is smooth.

especially & specially
especially“尤其,特别地”,表示某事不寻常。
specially“特地的,专门地”,为某一特殊目的专门采用某一方式。

地理位置对方言的产生也有影响。
1）play a part/role in 在……中起作用,担任角色
He was lucky to play a part in the film directed by Zhang Yimou.
*Learning method plays an important part in English learning.
2）play the part/role of担任……角色,起……的作用
He will play the part/role of chairman in my latest drama.
6.Although many Americans move a lot,they still recognize and understand each other's dialects.
1）recognize vt.辨认出；承认；公认
Do you recognize his handwriting?
2）recognize:短暂动词,指原来很熟悉,经过一段时间的间隔又重新认出来。
know:延续动词,指相互间十分熟悉,十分了解。
Although they hadn't met for many years,they recognized each other at first sight.
I have known him for 10 years.
